Q: How is my greenhouse shipped?

We crate our cedar backyard greenhouse kits on pallets and ship via freight to your home. Shipping costs will be calculated at the time of purchase. We do offer a home delivery option to any of our customers within a 100 mile radius of our shop in Saint Helens, OR. Be sure to inquire about this when ordering!

Q: Is a Foundation Needed for My Greenhouse?

Yes, a foundation is necessary for your greenhouse. If you already have a well-constructed patio or deck, it can serve as a suitable foundation. Alternatively, you can build a perimeter foundation using concrete, concrete blocks, railroad ties, or treated timber.

What's in the Kit

We prefabricate your entire greenhouse, then label and deconstruct the sidewalls and roof for an easy reassembly process. The endwalls come to you put together and ready to go, the door is pre-hung in its jambs and the basewall is preassembled in sections. Our goal is to strike a balance between shipping costs and ease of assembly.

All greenhouses come standard with:

1 Roof vent with automatic opener
Handmade cedar door
Twinwall glazing, precut
Enough caulk to seal the glazing
2-tier cedar shelf (Choose between 1 @ 6' or 2 @ 4')

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you use tight knot cedar?

Cedar has excellent natural pest and weather resistance making it perfect for greenhouse construction. We use kiln dried tight knot cedar so it's stable when building and won't warp or shrink after we complete the prefabrication. It also looks great and has some beautiful character in the wood which you don't necessary get from clear cedar. Our greenhouses can be stained to match the décor of your home. We strongly recommend oiling or staining the wood to preserve its look and prolong its natural resistance to weather and rot.

How is my greenhouse shipped?

Is a building permit required for my greenhouse?

The permit requirements for building greenhouses can be quite ambiguous, often falling into a "grey zone" of building codes. These regulations can vary significantly not only between different counties but even among individual inspectors within the same department. Ultimately, it is the buyer's responsibility to ensure compliance.

In our experience a greenhouse under 120 square feet does not usually require a permit. If you find yourself needing one, Obtaining a permit can range from simply submitting basic greenhouse plans to undergoing a more complex and costly process, such as having plans approved by a state-licensed engineer. We advise customers to secure the necessary permits before placing your greenhouse order so we can work to accommodate any required changes for code compliance. We will do our best to assist you throughout this process.

All of our cedar greenhouse kits are made to order, and we hold no inventory. By not holding any inventory, we're able to focus on providing the best possible service to each of our customers, giving them the best quality greenhouse we can.

This also allows us to be flexible with our greenhouses and can come up with custom solutions for anyone. Although we currently offer this as our standard starter kit, we can do larger end-walls, can build them to custom lengths in 2' increments, and can even substitute cedar for redwood. We can even build custom lean-to or attached models. Our flexibility, creativity, customization, and craftsmanship is unmatched in the wood greenhouse market.
